Conclusion of a Partnership Agreement with Bike New York

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) and the GRAND CYCLE TOKYO Executive Committee (GCT) have entered into a partnership agreement with “Bike New York (official event name: TD FIVE BORO BIKE TOUR)”, one of the world’s largest fun-ride cycling events. Through this partnership with “Bike New York”, TMG and GCT will further strengthen mutual public relations activities and enhance overseas outreach.

Summary of the Agreement

(1)Purpose

Based on the shared recognition that creating an environment that promotes the use of bicycles, which contributes both to reducing environmental impact and improving public health, is essential for the sustainable development of cities, this partnership aims to foster the mutual development of events and further strengthen friendly relations among the parties involved.

  • Plan, promote, and develop cycling events aimed at contributing to local revitalization, encouraging public engagement, and expanding participation through meaningful exchanges among the respective events
  • Promote bicycle measures
  • Promote initiatives for the realization of sustainable cities

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has acquired the “UCI BIKE CITY LABEL” certified by the International Cycling Union (UCI). The “UCI BIKE CITY LABEL” is recognized by the UCI as a city or region that is pioneering bicycle initiatives, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is the first city in the East Asian region to receive the label. In cooperation with UCI and other certified cities, we will further promote sports projects that utilize bicycles and create an environment where everyone can use bicycles safely and comfortably.
